Artist's Description

This is an abstract painting that I created intuitively for my 100 Paintings in 100 Days challenge recently. The simplicity came about only after many layers of paint underneath happened. Mostly this top layer was formed using a painting knife and I had lots of fun creating it.

Arlene Holtz

Color, movement, emotion, and energy is what inspires me and what emerges in my art. I paint landscapes, still lifes, and florals, but figures and portraiture are the most fascinating to me. Lately I have been exploring the use of non-traditional colors to create portraits that are alive and unique. I have also begun to experiment with and paint abstracts, and am loving the freedom in just playing with color, form, and emotions. Exploration and new ideas get my juices flowing and drive me creatively. My passion is to create visual works of art in my studio that come from the heart and from my connection to Spirit.
