Love the vivid colors for an underwater fantasy!

Artist's Description

These underwater creatures emerged from my playing with textures. I painted gesso thickly on heavy watercolor paper (140 pound), after which I placed a piece of plastic wrap on top, moving it around on the surface to create the texture.

After leaving the plastic on until the gesso was almost dry, I removed it and let it dry thoroughly before painting it with watercolors, allowing the texture patterns to suggest the fanciful creatures that finally emerged.

Color, movement, emotion, and energy is what inspires me and what emerges in my art. I paint landscapes, still lifes, and florals, but figures and portraiture are the most fascinating to me. Lately I have been exploring the use of non-traditional colors to create portraits that are alive and unique. I have also begun to experiment with and paint abstracts, and am loving the freedom in just playing with color, form, and emotions. Exploration and new ideas get my juices flowing and drive me creatively. My passion is to create visual works of art in my studio that come from the heart and from my connection to Spirit.
